Sixteen-year-old Sabrynna Mesidor should be starting her school year surrounded by friends, laughter, and track meets. Instead, she is in the hospital, beginning a long road to recovery after being hit by a car while walking to school in Douglasville.

The crash left Sabrynna with a broken femur, hip, facial fracture, and broken teeth. Her family describes her as a bright, loving teenager with her whole future ahead of her.

Friends and classmates are rallying around her with words of encouragement. One message reads:

“You’ve always been one of my biggest supporters on the track, and now I want you to know I’m cheering for you just the same. This is the hardest race you’ll run, but I know you will win because you’re resilient. We’re waiting to see your smile again.”

Sabrynna’s story is also a reminder for all of us — to slow down, stay alert, and drive carefully, especially in school zones and neighborhoods where young lives are most at risk.
