HUNTINGTON MANOR, N.Y. — The Huntington Manor Fire Department is mourning the loss of 27-year-old Mason Kraese, who died Saturday night in a tragic ATV crash in upstate Summit, Schoharie County, authorities confirmed.
Kraese, the eldest son of Mary Beth and Phil Kraese, was a devoted firefighter and part of a multi-generational family that has long served in the Huntington Manor Fire Department. The Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office said Mason was riding an ATV when it collided with a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Outside of his firefighting duties, Mason also worked as a background actor in film and television, where friends and colleagues remember him for his energy and dedication.
The Chiefs office released a statement saying, “It is with deep sadness that we announce Firefighter Mason Kraese has answered his last alarm. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kraese and Steenson families. Rest in peace, brother — you will be missed.”
Funeral and wake arrangements are pending. The community continues to grieve the loss of a young life dedicated to service and camaraderie.
