SUDBURY, Ontario – Greater Sudbury Police are investigating a double homicide following a late-night shooting at a residential building on Paris Street.

Officers were called at around 10:23 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29, after a 911 call reported gunfire inside the building at 1960 Paris St. When patrol units arrived, they discovered a man and a woman deceased on one of the floors.

Authorities confirmed that one individual has been arrested in connection with the case, though their name and potential charges have not been released. Investigators believe additional suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival.

In a release, police emphasized that the incident appears to have been targeted. “Based on preliminary information, this is believed to be a targeted incident involving individuals known to each other,” officials stated. “There is no threat to public safety.”

The names of the victims have not yet been released. The investigation remains ongoing.
