ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – Authorities have identified the two people killed in a four-vehicle crash that occurred Friday morning at the intersection of County Road 40 and County Road 17.

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, a 24-year-old man from Wakarusa was traveling east on County Road 40 when he failed to stop at a stop sign. His vehicle collided with two southbound vehicles, one driven by 21-year-old Steven Perez of Elkhart and the other by 69-year-old Donna Gushwa of Milford.

The impact caused Perez’s vehicle to flip and strike a northbound vehicle driven by a 59-year-old Elkhart woman. Investigators said Perez was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his vehicle.

Both Perez and Gushwa were pronounced dead at the scene. The 24-year-old driver and the 59-year-old woman were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Their conditions have not been released.

The crash remains under investigation by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.
