WICHITA, Kan. — The Wichita Police Department has arrested an 80-year-old Augusta woman on two counts of second-degree homicide following a fatal crash that claimed the lives of two Wichita women.
On Saturday, August 30, 2025, at approximately 9:35 p.m., officers responded to a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Central and Webb Road. The preliminary investigation revealed that a black Chevrolet truck traveling eastbound on Central collided with a white BMW and a gray Jeep, both traveling southbound on Webb.
Inside the BMW were Lashea Bell, 42, and her passenger Aniah Bell, 25, both of Wichita. Lashea Bell was pronounced deceased at the scene. Aniah Bell was transported to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries.
The 41-year-old male driver of the Jeep sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to a hospital for treatment. Once medically cleared, she was taken into custody and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on two counts of second-degree homicide.
Investigators believe speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for formal charges.
