DALLAS, Texas — A tragic shooting on September 1, 2025, has left a Dallas family devastated after police say a 19-year-old man was fatally shot by his cousin.
Around 5 p.m., officers were called to the 6300 block of Parkdale Drive for reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found Emmanuel Nanjera suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
Investigators identified the suspect as 21-year-old Jose Magareno, who police say admitted to firing the shot. According to authorities, Magareno believed the gun had been unloaded after removing the rounds but fired once, striking his cousin in the chest.
Magareno himself called 911 after the incident, telling dispatchers it was an accident. He was arrested at the scene and is now charged with murder.
Police continue to investigate the shooting.
