NEW BRAUNFELS, TX – A 34-year-old man from Schertz lost his life Tuesday afternoon in a rollover crash on Interstate 35.
Around 2:30 p.m. on September 2, 2025, the New Braunfels Police Department and New Braunfels Fire Department responded to the 2900 block of I-35 North for reports of a serious motor vehicle accident.
First responders arrived to find a silver Ford Fusion that had overturned in the northbound lanes. The driver had been ejected from the vehicle. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by officers and paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been publicly released, but next of kin have been notified.
According to NBPD’s preliminary investigation, the Ford Fusion had been traveling at a high rate of speed, weaving through traffic, when it sideswiped a blue Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. The driver then overcorrected, causing the vehicle to roll over. Police noted that the victim was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, which contributed to his ejection.
The entire northbound side of I-35 in the area was shut down for approximately three and a half hours as NBPD’s Traffic Unit conducted accident reconstruction and crews cleared the scene. No additional injuries were reported, and no charges are expected to be filed.
