FORT MORGAN, Colo. — A tragic accident at Fort Morgan Municipal Airport claimed the life of 35-year-old Kristen Morris of Denver over the holiday weekend. Morris was piloting one of two single-engine planes involved in a midair collision late Sunday morning.

The crash occurred as one aircraft was preparing to land at the northern end of the runway. Morris was killed in the accident, while another person aboard her plane was hospitalized with injuries. Two occupants of the second plane sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the scene. Their identities have not been released.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are assisting local authorities in investigating the cause of the collision. Officials stressed that the investigation is ongoing and urged witnesses or anyone with relevant information to come forward.

Emergency responders and bystanders acted quickly, helping to evacuate passengers and contain the fire that followed the crash. The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude for their efforts and extended condolences to the family and friends of Kristen Morris.
