22-Year-Old Man Among Two Killed in Separate Birmingham Shootings Within Hours

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man in east Birmingham Wednesday night, one of two deadly incidents reported in the city within just two hours.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Terek Amahd Harris, a Birmingham resident.

The shooting took place at 9:27 p.m. in the 200 block of Meadowdale Avenue. Harris was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:48 p.m.

Just two hours earlier, tragedy struck on the city’s west side when an 82-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a stray bullet during a nearby shootout.

Police have not released additional details regarding suspects or possible motives in Harris’ case. Officers and detectives established a large perimeter around the east Birmingham neighborhood Wednesday night as onlookers gathered behind crime scene tape.

Harris’ death marks Birmingham’s 57th homicide of 2025. Officials noted that one of those victims was initially shot in 2024 but died from injuries this year.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Birmingham Police detectives at 205-254-1764 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
