KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. — Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal crash that occurred Tuesday in the Glasgow area of Kanawha County. The victim has been confirmed as 50-year-old Marvin James Smith Jr., of Rand, West Virginia.
According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, Smith was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee when his vehicle left the roadway while navigating a left-hand curve. The car struck a utility pole, overturned, and came to rest beside the nearby railroad tracks.
Emergency responders pronounced Smith deceased at the scene. The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine contributing factors.
Family, friends, and the local community are mourning the loss of Smith, remembered by those who knew him as a devoted family man.
