Tulsa Police Identify Motorcyclist Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash

TULSA, Okla. — Authorities have identified the motorcyclist killed in a fiery multi-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in south Tulsa as 23-year-old Ashton Meyer.

The crash occurred around 4:50 p.m. near 71st Street and Canton Avenue. According to police, Meyer was riding a motorcycle when he collided with two other vehicles. Witnesses reported that prior to the crash, he had been speeding, weaving through traffic, and performing stunts, including wheelies, along the busy roadway.

Investigators say that as Meyer approached an intersection, a vehicle began making a turn in front of him. In an attempt to avoid a direct collision, Meyer laid the motorcycle on its side, but the bike struck one of the vehicles, igniting the gas tank. The flames spread quickly, and Meyer was thrown from the motorcycle, ending up beneath another vehicle.

Emergency crews rushed him to the hospital, but despite efforts by medical staff, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The drivers of the other vehicles were evaluated at the scene and did not sustain serious injuries. Both remained on-site and cooperated fully with investigators. At this time, police do not anticipate filing charges, noting that Meyer’s actions appear to have been the primary contributing factor.

Tulsa Police Advanced Traffic Investigators continue to reconstruct the crash, reviewing roadway evidence, vehicle damage, and witness statements. Officials emphasized that the tragedy underscores the risks of reckless motorcycle riding, urging riders to practice safe habits, wear protective gear, and avoid stunts on public roads.

The death of Ashton Meyer has left his family and community grieving, while also serving as a sobering reminder of how quickly dangerous driving behaviors can end in tragedy.
