GREENBRIER COUNTY, W.Va – Authorities have released new details in a deadly incident on Morgan Cemetery Road, just south of Ronceverte, that left one woman dead and a man injured early Wednesday morning.
On September 3, shortly after midnight, deputies with the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported disturbance at a residence. Upon arrival, deputies saw a man in a white SUV attempting to leave the scene. After briefly stopping, the suspect refused to exit the vehicle and sped off.
While one deputy pursued the SUV, another checked the property and discovered a severely injured man partially under a camper. Moments later, deputies found an adult female inside the residence who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The fleeing suspect was later stopped in Fairlea with the assistance of Lewisburg, Ronceverte, and White Sulphur Springs police. After a taser deployment and brief struggle, the man—identified as 42-year-old Michael Eugene Loudermilk Jr. of Greenbrier County—was taken into custody. He faces murder and multiple other charges.
The deceased victim has been identified as Quailynn Bass, 36, of Florida. Preliminary findings indicate blunt force trauma as the cause of death. The injured man, identified as Brian Loudermilk, 52, of Greenbrier County, was transported to a trauma center for treatment.
The investigation remains active, with deputies gathering evidence from both the scene and the suspect’s vehicle and home.
Sheriff Bruce Baker commended the quick response of deputies and thanked local police departments for their assistance in apprehending the suspect.
