MSP Investigating Fatal Crash on I-95 in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Maine – The Maine State Police (MSP) are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Thursday afternoon, September 4, 2025, on the southbound Exit 113 off-ramp of I-95 in Augusta.

According to authorities, the crash happened at approximately 1:04 p.m. when 54-year-old Shaun McFarlin of Augusta was driving a 2006 Ford pickup truck southbound on the off-ramp. For reasons still under investigation, McFarlin left the roadway, causing the vehicle to roll over.

Emergency responders pronounced McFarlin deceased at the scene. Officials confirmed he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Investigators believe speed was a contributing factor.

Troopers from Troop I were assisted at the scene by Augusta Fire & Rescue, the Maine Department of Transportation, and AC Towing. The off-ramp was temporarily closed for approximately an hour and a half while crews worked to investigate and clear the area.

The investigation remains ongoing.
