RICHMOND, Va. — A Richmond man who was critically wounded in a Thursday evening shooting has died, police confirmed Friday, turning the case into a homicide investigation and adding to growing concerns about violence in the Old Town Manchester neighborhood.
Authorities identified the victim as 44-year-old Terrell Robinson of Richmond. Officers were dispatched just after 7 p.m. on Sept. 4 to the 00 block of East 10th Street following reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found Robinson lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his back. He was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries but later succumbed to his wounds.
Detectives with the Richmond Police Department continue to investigate the circumstances of the shooting. Officials said Detective G. Russell is leading the case and urged anyone with information to call him at 804-646-7715.
The shooting occurred only weeks after another violent incident on East 11th Street, where three people were wounded. Police, however, said they do not believe the cases are connected.
Residents of Old Town Manchester say the recurring gun violence has disrupted their sense of safety, prompting calls for stronger community protection and more visible policing. As investigators canvass the area for witnesses and surveillance footage, police emphasized the importance of public cooperation in finding those responsible.
Robinson’s death serves as yet another reminder of the toll gun violence continues to take on Richmond families and neighborhoods.
