HUEYTOWN, Ala. — The Hueytown Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that left one woman dead Thursday evening.
Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Robins Street between 5:30 and 5:40 p.m. following reports of a person shot. When they arrived, they discovered an adult female deceased inside a residence.
After speaking with witnesses, investigators determined the incident was domestic in nature. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as 52-year-old Rocia Vega.
Hueytown Police said the suspect has been identified but has not yet been located. Detectives continue to gather evidence as the investigation remains active. Officials emphasized that they believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
