901 Day Beale Street Shooting Victim Identified

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The victim of the Beale Street shooting that occurred following 901 Day festivities has been identified as 17-year-old T’marious Allen, according to his mother, Tyisea Allen.

The shooting occurred around 10:15 p.m. on September 1 near the intersection of Beale Street and November 6 Street, between Main and Second Street. Memphis Police said the incident happened hours after official 901 Day festivities had ended.

Investigators reported that 16-year-old Joshua Hicks has been charged in connection with the shooting. Hicks faces charges of attempted second-degree murder, reckless endangerment, and employment of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. His mother, Suntria Stackins, was also arrested and charged as an accessory after the fact after allegedly misleading deputies about Hicks’ whereabouts.

Video obtained by FOX13 showed a fight between multiple individuals before gunfire erupted. Court records reveal that Stackins initially denied Hicks was home when deputies came to speak with him, later admitting he was inside.

Family members of Hicks said the altercation began after someone allegedly harassed his niece. According to his sister, Ebonie Stackins, Hicks was defending her daughter when the situation escalated.

Police are still seeking another man seen on video appearing to hand a gun to someone during the incident. At this time, Hicks is the only individual charged in connection with the shooting.
