Justice for Quoc Nguyen: 28-Year-Old Marine Veteran Found Shot to Death in North Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the tragic death of Quoc Nguyen, a 28-year-old Marine veteran affectionately known by family and friends as Hieu “Jake” Nguyen. Deputies discovered Nguyen late Thursday night around 11 p.m. on Lakewood Forest Drive near Grant Road after receiving reports of a man lying on the side of the road.

At first, investigators believed the case to be a possible hit-and-run. However, a closer examination revealed that Nguyen had suffered a fatal gunshot wound. Detectives are now treating the incident as a homicide and are working to determine whether the shooting happened at the scene or if his body was left there. Nguyen, who also drove for Uber, may have been working at the time of the attack. Authorities confirmed he was unarmed and defenseless when he was killed.

Nguyen’s loved ones are devastated by the loss, remembering Jake as a loyal son, brother, uncle, and friend. A proud Marine veteran, he carried the same spirit of service into civilian life, caring for his mother and sisters and supporting anyone who needed help. His family describes him as easygoing, dependable, and heroic in quiet ways.

As the investigation continues, Nguyen’s family and community are calling for justice while honoring his life and legacy. Semper Fi, Jake.
