Teen Killed, Two Others Critically Injured in Coachella Shooting

COACHELLA, Calif. — Authorities in Riverside County are investigating a deadly shooting that left one teenager dead and two others critically injured earlier this month.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched around 4 a.m. on August 2 to the 49000 block of Corte Molino following reports of an assault with a deadly weapon. When they arrived, deputies found three young males suffering from gunshot wounds and immediately began life-saving efforts while calling for medical support.

One of the victims, identified as 17-year-old Alberto Castillo Jr. of Coachella, was pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency response efforts. The other two victims, both adolescent males, were rushed to local hospitals in critical condition.

The shooting has shaken the Coachella community, leaving family and friends mourning the loss of Castillo while anxiously awaiting updates on the survivors. Investigators have not announced any arrests or released details about possible suspects or motives.

Detectives continue to canvass the area, gather evidence, and interview witnesses. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
