AUBURN, Ala – Authorities have identified the woman found dead in Kiesel Park as Dr. Julie Gard Schnuelle, a 59-year-old professor at Auburn University.
Lee County Coroner Daniel Sexton confirmed Dr. Schnuelle was discovered in a wooded area of the park, located on Chadwick Lane, around 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 6. Her death is being investigated as a homicide.
Dr. Schnuelle was a respected faculty member in Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, serving as a professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences within the Large Animal/Food Animal section.
The Auburn Police Department has issued a Be-On-The-Lookout for a red Ford F-150 reported missing from the area at the time of the incident. Authorities are urging anyone who may have seen the vehicle or has information related to the case to come forward.
The Lee County Coroner’s Office will transport Dr. Schnuelle to ADFS Montgomery Medical for a postmortem examination.
