GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A man from Mobile, Alabama, was shot and killed Saturday evening during an altercation at a Grand Rapids park, police confirmed.
The shooting happened around 7 p.m. at Mackay-Jaycees Park on Kalamazoo Avenue near 28th Street. According to the Grand Rapids Police Department, the incident began as a fight before gunfire erupted.
The victim has been identified as John Doee, who was visiting from Mobile. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say no arrests have been made, and the suspect involved has not yet been located. Detectives continue to interview witnesses and review evidence as the investigation moves forward.
Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Grand Rapids Police Department or submit an anonymous tip through Silent Observer.
