READING, Pa. – Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred over the weekend in Berks County.
The Berks County Coroner’s Office confirmed that 28-year-old Luis P. Colon of Allentown, Lehigh County, was killed Sunday after his motorcycle collided with a semi-trailer.
According to investigators, Cumru Township police were already on the scene of an unrelated crash on Route 222 near the Grings Hill Road exit when Colon allegedly bypassed traffic controls and nearly struck an officer. He continued southbound on Route 222 into Brecknock Township, exiting at Adamstown and disregarding stopped traffic.
Officials say Colon then entered a traffic lane, where his motorcycle collided with the semi-trailer. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Berks County Coroner’s Office has not scheduled an autopsy, and Colon’s official cause of death remains pending.
