LAURENS COUNTY, S.C. — A tragic motorcycle accident on Sunday afternoon has claimed the life of Codie Allen Bolin, 40, of West Columbia, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Laurens County Coroner’s Office.
The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. on River Fork Road. Troopers reported that Bolin was traveling southbound on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when it suddenly veered off the right side of the roadway. The motorcycle struck several trees, resulting in fatal injuries. Despite a swift response from emergency personnel, Bolin was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the incident. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with factors such as speed, road conditions, or possible rider error still under review. Officials have not yet stated whether Bolin was wearing a helmet.
Friends and family describe Codie as a beloved figure in his community, whose sudden passing has left a void that will be deeply felt in West Columbia and beyond. Local officials extended their condolences to his loved ones as they grieve this heartbreaking loss.
