JONES COUNTY, Mis – A Jones County woman is facing serious charges following an early morning shooting that left a man dead on Monday.
According to the Jones County Sheriff’s Department, deputies arrested 46-year-old Jonna Husband and charged her with second-degree murder in connection to the fatal incident.
Authorities identified the victim as Donnie Bender, Jr. Deputies and medics were dispatched to a residence on Graves Road, where they discovered Bender suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported by EMServ to South Central Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Husband was detained for questioning earlier in the morning, with her arrest officially announced just before noon. She is currently being held at the Jones County Jail.
The Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident, adding there is no ongoing threat to the community. The Jones County Coroner’s Office also responded to the scene.
Husband is scheduled to make her first court appearance at 1 p.m. Monday at the Jones County Justice Court.
