Cody Austin Jenkins, 26, of Gold Hill, Dies in Highway 99 Crash

JACKSON COUNTY, Ore – Authorities have identified Cody Austin Jenkins, 26, of Gold Hill, as the victim of a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred Monday afternoon on Highway 99 near milepost 12 in Jackson County.

The Oregon State Police said Jenkins was driving a Subaru Legacy southbound when the vehicle veered across the northbound lanes, broke through a fence, and entered the Rogue River. The car quickly became submerged, and no occupants were seen escaping.

The Jackson County Search and Rescue Team assisted with recovering the vehicle from the river. Jenkins was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials confirmed he was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities said the highway was not impacted during the on-scene response.

OSP was assisted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson County Search and Rescue, Rogue River Fire Department, and ODOT.
