Monroe Man Killed in Fatal Crash on U.S. 2

EVERETT, Wash. — A 22-year-old Monroe man is dead following a two-vehicle collision Saturday evening on U.S. 2, east of Monroe.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 5:48 p.m. near milepost 20. Investigators said Gavin Wright, 22, of Monroe, was traveling east on Fern Bluff Road when he crossed the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle.

Wright was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. The driver of the other vehicle, a 59-year-old man, was transported to EvergreenHealth Monroe with injuries that have not yet been disclosed.

Troopers said drugs or alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in the crash.

The roadway was temporarily closed as crews investigated and cleared the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
