TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio — A tragic two-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 250 claimed the life of a 50-year-old woman and left a 67-year-old man injured on Monday afternoon, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers reported the accident occurred around 3:18 p.m. near mile marker 27 in Union Township, close to the Harrison County line. Preliminary investigations indicate that a 2003 Cadillac DeVille, traveling westbound, crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2024 Toyota Tacoma traveling eastbound.
The Toyota was pushed off the road, striking a guardrail and overturning on top of the barrier. The Cadillac’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office. The driver of the Toyota was transported to Mercy Hospital with injuries. Both occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Authorities say drugs are believed to be a contributing factor in the collision. The Ohio Department of Transportation assisted with road closures and traffic control while Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, Dennison Fire Department, Smith Ambulance, Countryside Towing, and D & S Towing also responded.
The investigation remains ongoing as troopers work to determine the full circumstances surrounding this fatal accident.
