Charlie Kirk Shot During Event at Utah University; Trump Urges Nation to Pray

OREM, Utah — Charlie Kirk, founder of the conservative youth activist group Turning Point USA, was shot during an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, according to law enforcement sources.

A school alert confirmed that a single shot was fired on campus toward a visiting speaker. Officials later said a suspect is in custody. Federal agents with the FBI and ATF responded to the scene, and Utah Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed their involvement.

News of the incident drew swift reaction from national leaders. Former President Donald Trump posted on social media: “We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!”

FBI Director Kash Patel pledged support, saying the bureau “stands in full support of the ongoing response and investigation.”

Utah’s elected officials also weighed in. Sen. Mike Lee said he was closely monitoring the situation, urging prayers for Kirk and the students in attendance. Gov. Spencer Cox said he is receiving ongoing briefings and emphasized that “violence has no place in our public life. Americans of every political persuasion must unite in condemning this act.”

Vice President JD Vance added on social media: “Say a prayer for Charlie Kirk, a genuinely good guy and a young father.”

The university event was the first stop on Turning Point USA’s American Comeback Tour, which is scheduled to visit multiple college campuses nationwide.

As of Wednesday evening, Kirk’s condition had not been publicly released. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the shooting.

This is a developing story. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
