TILLAMOOK COUNTY, Ore — Authorities have identified the pedestrian who tragically died in a crash on Highway 6 Tuesday morning as 25-year-old Jaime Cristobal Aguilar Herrera of Beaverton, according to the Oregon State Police.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:25 a.m. on Sept. 9 near milepost 30. Investigators said Aguilar Herrera entered the eastbound lane of travel for reasons still under investigation and was struck by a white Freightliner semi-truck.
The truck was operated by 64-year-old Scott Lee Gotchall of Portland, who was not injured in the crash. Emergency responders pronounced Aguilar Herrera deceased at the scene.
The crash closed the highway for nearly 3.5 hours while Oregon State Police conducted their on-site investigation. The Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office, Tillamook Fire, and the Oregon Department of Transportation provided assistance at the scene.
Authorities have not released further details regarding why Aguilar Herrera was in the roadway, but the investigation remains ongoing.
