Levern Hill, 32, Identified as Victim in Fatal Westlake District Shooting

LOS ANGELES (Sept — Authorities have identified the man killed in a weekend shooting in Los Angeles’ Westlake District as 32-year-old Levern Hill, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Investigators say the incident began as a dispute between Hill and an unidentified suspect near 619 South Westlake Avenue, just steps from MacArthur Park, a busy area often crowded with commuters and pedestrians. The confrontation quickly escalated into gunfire around 4:12 p.m. Saturday, leaving Hill critically injured.

The suspect fled the scene on a scooter, police said. Emergency responders rushed Hill to a nearby hospital, but despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) confirmed that detectives are reviewing evidence and working to piece together the motive and sequence of events. At this time, no description of the shooter has been released.
