FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ind – Authorities have identified 81-year-old Rosa Banks of Laurel, Indiana, as the victim of a deadly two-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday evening in Franklin County.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department said the collision happened around 5:17 p.m. at the intersection of State Road 1 and Rhein Road. A preliminary investigation indicates that Banks was driving a 2010 Ford Fusion and was entering the intersection from Rhein Road when her vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by a southbound 2021 Toyota Tacoma.
Banks was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in her vehicle, 33-year-old Robbie Dale Rae, suffered injuries and was treated on site by emergency responders. The driver of the Toyota Tacoma, 32-year-old David Tyler Hokey, was not injured.
Investigators said alcohol and drugs are not suspected as factors in the crash. The case remains under investigation by Sgt. Adam Henson with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.
Letts EMS, the Brookville Fire Department, and the Franklin County Coroner’s Office all assisted at the scene.
