ALLEN COUNTY, Ohio — A tragic multi-vehicle collision on State Route 115 near U.S. 30 claimed the lives of Sean Triplett, 40, of Kentucky, and Joann Kahle, 60, of Ft. Jennings, on Tuesday morning, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash, involving four vehicles, occurred around 8:30 a.m. and caused significant traffic disruptions as authorities worked to investigate the sequence of events. Triplett and Kahle were both pronounced dead at the scene following the violent series of collisions.
Investigators report that the chain of events began when Triplett, traveling north on SR 115, suddenly veered across the center line into the southbound lane. His vehicle first collided head-on with an SUV driven by 24-year-old Morgan Krouse of Kalida, forcing Krouse’s vehicle into the path of 30-year-old Thora George of Lima, whose car was struck next.
Triplett’s vehicle continued in the wrong lane and ultimately collided with Kahle’s car. The force of this final impact pushed Kahle’s vehicle off the roadway, resulting in fatal injuries to both Kahle and Triplett.
Emergency responders assessed the injured drivers, Krouse and George, who were treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries and did not require hospitalization.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is actively investigating the crash, with authorities examining whether speed, distraction, or impairment may have contributed to Triplett crossing the center line. Crash reconstruction specialists are analyzing skid marks, vehicle damage, and witness accounts to understand the full sequence of events.
The accident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers on two-lane roads, where even a brief lapse in attention can lead to catastrophic consequences. SR 115 is a heavily traveled route in the region, and residents of Allen County have expressed shock at the severity of the crash.
Friends and neighbors mourn the loss of Kahle, a longtime community member of Ft. Jennings, and Triplett, whose death has left loved ones in Kentucky reeling. Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision or seen Triplett’s vehicle prior to the crash to come forward to assist with the investigation.
As law enforcement continues its work, the Allen County community grieves the sudden loss of two lives, highlighting the critical importance of caution and attentiveness on the road.
