EL PASO, Texas – Authorities have identified the driver killed in a semi-truck crash on Interstate 10 early Thursday morning as 37-year-old Mohamed Ali Mumin, of Colorado.
According to El Paso Police Special Traffic Investigators, the crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. on I-10 East at Schuster. Investigators say Mumin’s semi-truck drifted onto the right shoulder and struck a guardrail before colliding with a cement support pillar of the Spur 1966 bridge.
Mumin was transported to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The crash initially shut down all eastbound lanes of I-10, causing significant traffic delays. As of 4:30 p.m., El Paso Police confirmed that all lanes had been reopened.
The investigation into what caused Mumin to veer off the road remains ongoing.
