Ward, Ark. — Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal train vs. vehicle accident in Ward as 28-year-old Andrew Ferren of Judsonia, according to an update from police.
The crash occurred around 7 p.m. Saturday at the Moore Street railroad crossing. Emergency crews arrived to find a vehicle struck by a train, with one person suffering fatal injuries.
Investigators now believe Ferren may have been a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the collision. It is also believed the driver fled the scene, leaving the investigation ongoing.
The Ward Police Department, Lonoke County Sheriff’s Department, Arkansas State Police, and Union Pacific Railroad Police are all assisting in the case.
Officials say further details will be released as the investigation continues.
