LAPLACE, La — Authorities have identified 21-year-old Tylen Anderson of LaPlace as the victim in a homicide investigation that led to the arrest of a local man over the weekend.

According to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies made the discovery around 10:38 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, after stopping a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Tyler Bourgeois. Inside the trunk of the vehicle, deputies found Anderson’s body.

Bourgeois was immediately taken into custody and booked on allegations of second-degree murder. Investigators have not released further details regarding the circumstances leading up to Anderson’s death but confirmed foul play is suspected.

Anderson was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Sheriff’s Office called the discovery “a heartbreaking tragedy” and said detectives are working diligently to uncover what happened.

Bourgeois remains in custody at the St. John Parish Jail as the investigation continues. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
