LUBBOCK, Texas – A tragic crash in east Lubbock claimed the life of 31-year-old Jenna Garcia early Monday morning. The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Authorities say the crash occurred just before 6:15 a.m. on the 4100 block of Slaton Highway. Garcia was driving a minivan southbound on Olive Avenue when she entered the intersection approaching Slaton Highway and collided with an eastbound semi-truck. Emergency responders arrived promptly, but Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene.
The semi-truck driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to University Medical Center (UMC) for treatment. Police did not release additional details regarding the semi-truck driver or the cause of the crash.
The Major Crash Unit is examining the scene, roadway conditions, and vehicle factors as part of its investigation. Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to contact the Lubbock Police Department.
