WOODBURN, Ore. – Authorities are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 southbound that claimed the life of 49-year-old Antonio Del-Valle Pegueros of Albany on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
According to the Oregon State Police (OSP), troopers responded to the crash at approximately 6:48 p.m. near Woodburn. A preliminary investigation revealed that Pegueros was driving a Nissan Sentra southbound when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway. The car rolled multiple times along the shoulder before coming to rest.
Emergency personnel arrived quickly, but Pegueros was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved, and investigators say traffic in the area was not significantly impacted.
OSP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, including potential contributing factors such as roadway conditions, mechanical issues, or driver error. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether seat belt use or speed played a role.
Pegueros’ death has left the Albany community grieving the sudden and tragic loss. Officials are urging any witnesses to come forward as they work to reconstruct the events leading up to the crash.
