TAYLOR COUNTY, Wis. – A deadly crash in the town of Chelsea has claimed the life of a 19-year-old driver from Ashland early Monday morning.
The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies were dispatched to State Highway 13, just north of County Road M, shortly before 6 a.m. on September 29, 2025. According to the initial investigation, a southbound vehicle, driven by Allen M. Madison, 19, of Ashland, crossed the center line into the northbound lane. The vehicle collided head-on with a semi-truck traveling north.
The impact of the crash was catastrophic. Both vehicles immediately caught fire, and emergency crews arriving on scene found Madison trapped inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The semi driver was able to escape without serious injury, authorities said.
The highway was shut down for several hours as firefighters extinguished the flames and investigators examined the crash site. The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the investigation into what caused Madison’s vehicle to cross into the oncoming lane is ongoing.
Authorities extend their condolences to Madison’s family and loved ones during this tragic time.
