Victorville, CA –Authorities have identified 30-year-old Fidelmar Duran Perez, of Victorville, as the victim of a fatal vehicle-versus-motorcycle crash Monday evening.
The collision occurred at approximately 5:16 p.m. at the intersection of Bear Valley Road and Mesa View Drive. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, 76-year-old Charles Gilmore, of Victorville, was driving a brown Buick Lacrosse eastbound on Bear Valley Road in the number one turn lane. As Gilmore attempted to turn northbound onto Mesa View Drive, his vehicle crossed into the path of a westbound black Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle operated by Duran Perez.
The motorcycle struck the side of Gilmore’s car, causing severe injuries to Duran Perez. Despite emergency response efforts by deputies, Victorville Fire Department personnel, and American Medical Response, Perez was pronounced dead at the scene. Gilmore remained at the site and cooperated with investigators.
The Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the crash and is continuing to investigate contributing factors. Bear Valley Road and Mesa View Drive were closed for approximately four hours while authorities conducted their work.
