TUCSON, Ariz.  – The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has identified the pedestrian who was killed in a crash involving a semi-truck late Sunday night.

Authorities confirmed the victim as 28-year-old Jordan Caleb Estes, a local patient who had previously been reported missing.

The incident occurred on September 29, 2025, around 9:45 p.m. near the intersection of North Thornydale Road and West Turkey Lane. According to PCSD, an off-duty Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper witnessed the collision and immediately called 911, remaining on scene until deputies arrived.

Deputies located the semi-truck pulled over to the roadside with both the driver and passenger unharmed. Estes was found nearby, but despite lifesaving measures, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators with the PCSD Traffic Unit determined that neither speed nor impairment played a role in the crash. The circumstances surrounding why Estes was in the roadway remain under review.

The Sheriff’s Department extended condolences to the family and confirmed the investigation is ongoing.
