A tragic accident in Hector, Schuyler County, claimed the life of 17-year-old Marcus Knight of Trumansburg on Monday, September 29, 2025. The crash occurred around 11:46 a.m. on County Road No. 1 when a 2010 Ford Fusion, driven by 18-year-old Michael Blake of Ithaca, failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, and struck several trees.
Emergency responders, including the Schuyler County Coroner’s Office, Trumansburg and Enfield Fire Departments, Trumansburg Ambulance, and the New York State Police accident reconstruction team, arrived at the scene. Marcus Knight was pronounced dead at the scene, while Blake was airlifted to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse with serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office, which is working to determine the factors that contributed to the accident. Authorities are reminding drivers to exercise caution on rural roads and curves, especially under challenging driving conditions.
