It is with heavy hearts that we share the heartbreaking loss of Moeller High School sophomore, Dylan Straughn. Dylan was a bright, compassionate, and faith-filled young man whose presence brought light and warmth to everyone around him.
Known for his genuine kindness and deep empathy, Dylan always sought ways to uplift others. He even asked to become a House chaplain a year early so that he could pray for and support his classmates—a true reflection of his caring spirit and servant’s heart.
Dylan’s talents and passions were many. He played the trombone in the Moeller/Mount Notre Dame Band, participated in Moeller Theatre, loved spending time on the volleyball court, and had a remarkable enthusiasm for history. In everything he did, Dylan radiated joy, positivity, and love for life.
As a Marianist community, we find comfort in our shared faith and in the spirit of family that unites us. Dylan embodied these values through his humor, humility, and compassion. He made others feel seen, valued, and loved—a true Man of Moeller.
Please keep Dylan and his family in your prayers.
May he rest in the eternal peace and love of God.
