HUTTONSVILLE, W.Va. — A tragic accident in Randolph County on Wednesday evening claimed the life of 55-year-old Mary Rexrode of Brandywine.
According to a press release from the West Virginia State Police, the crash happened around 6 p.m. on October 8, 2025. Investigators said Rexrode was traveling north on U.S. Route 219 in Huttonsville when her vehicle left the roadway for reasons still under investigation. The car struck a culvert and overturned before coming to rest in the opposite lane of traffic.
Emergency personnel arrived shortly after the crash, but despite their efforts, Rexrode was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that no other vehicles were involved.
The West Virginia State Police and accident reconstruction teams continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash to determine what caused the vehicle to veer off the road.
This tragic incident has left the Brandywine and Randolph County communities mourning the loss of a neighbor and friend.
