Woman’s Body Lands in Tree After Being Thrown from Greene County Crash

GREENE COUNTY, N.C – Authorities in Greene County are investigating a tragic crash that left a 27-year-old woman dead early Sunday morning after being ejected from her vehicle and landing in a tree.

According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Fort Run Road near Peanut Road, west of Snow Hill. Troopers say an eastbound SUV ran off the right side of the highway, over-corrected, and crossed back onto the road before leaving the other side and overturning multiple times in a peanut field.

Trooper A.H. Batchelor reported that the victim, identified as 27-year-old Makaylah Dixon of Snow Hill, was thrown from the vehicle during the crash. In a tragic turn, her body came to rest approximately six feet up in a tree.

Investigators are still working to determine whether Dixon was driving or was a passenger at the time of the crash. They also noted that Dixon did not own the vehicle involved, and it remains unclear if other individuals were present during the incident.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
