Beloved Florence County Woman, Felicia Williams Sims, Killed in Sumter County Crash

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — A tragic crash along Interstate 95 in Sumter County claimed the life of a Florence County woman on Sunday evening.

Sumter County Coroner Robert Baker confirmed that 49-year-old Felicia Williams Sims died at the scene from injuries she sustained as a passenger in a single-vehicle accident. The crash occurred around 6 p.m. on October 12 between mile markers 141 and 146 on I-95 North.

Authorities said Sims was traveling in a vehicle that veered off the roadway and crashed. Despite emergency crews’ efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston to determine the exact cause of death.

The Sumter County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
