JACKSON, Miss. — Authorities are investigating the death of 33-year-old Amelia Neal, who was fatally shot while riding in a vehicle on October 12, 2025. According to Jackson police, Neal was a front-seat passenger in a gray Honda SUV traveling on Cynthia Road near Highway 49 when an unknown shooter fired into the vehicle around 4:30 p.m. The SUV also carried a male driver and a six-year-old child, both of whom were unharmed.
After the shooting, the driver immediately took the vehicle to a nearby Sprint Mart, where police were alerted. Neal was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but succumbed to her injuries the following day. Investigators believe the suspects fled the scene in a black passenger vehicle with a Louisiana license plate. Police have not released a motive for the shooting and are continuing their investigation.
Amelia Neal’s death has left family, friends, and the Jackson community devastated.
