TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Authorities are investigating a tragic single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Reform woman Monday afternoon in Pickens County.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the crash happened at approximately 12:45 p.m. when a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 78-year-old Edith M. Gault veered off the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned. The incident occurred along Ollie Bonner Road, roughly five miles north of Reform.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, but despite their efforts, Gault was pronounced dead at the scene. She was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Officials have not released further details about what may have caused Gault to lose control of the vehicle. Investigators are working to determine whether factors such as road conditions, a medical emergency, or mechanical issues may have contributed to the accident.
Local residents described the area as a quiet, rural stretch of road where speeding and sharp curves have occasionally led to past incidents. ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Family, friends, and neighbors in Reform are mourning the loss of Edith Gault, remembering her as a kindhearted woman whose presence will be deeply missed.
