Body of Missing 6-Month-Old Nnakai Pratt Found Near Riverdale Apartment Complex

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga — The heartbreaking search for 6-month-old Nnakai Pratt came to a tragic end Tuesday evening after police discovered the infant’s body near a Riverdale apartment complex, just days after he was reported missing.

Authorities say the baby’s body was found around 7 p.m. near a wooded area and dumpster close to Valley Hill Road, ending an exhaustive 84-hour search that began when Nnakai’s father, Antonio Pearce, claimed his son had been abducted during an alleged armed robbery.

Clayton County Police later determined inconsistencies in Pearce’s story, shifting the case from a kidnapping investigation to a possible criminal homicide. Officials have confirmed that Pearce is now the primary suspect in his son’s disappearance and death. He remains in custody on unrelated charges, including possession of marijuana and multiple traffic violations, as detectives continue to build their case.

Police also confirmed that Nnakai’s twin sibling is safe and currently in the care of their mother, who is not believed to be involved in the incident.

“This is a devastating loss for everyone involved,” a police spokesperson said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Nnakai’s family as they endure this unimaginable tragedy.”

An autopsy will be performed by the Clayton County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the baby’s official cause of death.
