GREGG COUNTY, Texas — Authorities with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) are investigating a fatal four-vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday evening on Interstate 20 in Gregg County. The collision involved two tractor-trailers, a box van, and a school bus.
According to Texas DPS, all vehicles were traveling westbound on I-20 when tragedy struck. A box van collided with the rear of a truck tractor-semi trailer, causing the van to become disabled in the roadway. Moments later, another semi-truck struck the disabled van, pushing it into the path of an oncoming school bus and damaging the left side of the bus.
The driver of the box van, identified as 42-year-old Zuo Kpogba, was pronounced dead at the scene by responding authorities. Fortunately, the drivers of the other vehicles and the passengers on the school bus were unharmed.
Emergency responders worked for several hours to clear the wreckage and restore traffic flow. Investigators continue to piece together the circumstances that led to the crash, though no charges or additional details have been released at this time.
The Texas DPS is urging motorists to drive with caution, especially around large vehicles and school transportation, as the investigation remains ongoing.
