Gotebo, OK — A deadly two-vehicle collision early Tuesday morning claimed the life of a Lookeba man and left another driver injured, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP).
The crash occurred around 6:49 a.m. on October 14, 2025, along State Highway 54, approximately 3.8 miles south of Gotebo in Kiowa County. Authorities say both vehicles involved had only one occupant each.
Troopers identified the victim as 20-year-old Gary R. Courtney of Lookeba. Courtney was driving one of the vehicles and was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the collision. OHP officials reported that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. His family has been notified.
The other driver, 23-year-old Luis A. Silva of Dover, was operating a commercial motor vehicle and was transported for medical treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Troopers confirmed that Silva was wearing a seatbelt.
State Highway 54 was closed for more than six hours as authorities investigated and cleared the scene.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash, and no further details have been released at this time.
