INDIANAPOLIS, IN. Authorities have confirmed that 40-year-old Clifford Hudson has died after succumbing to injuries sustained in a weekend shooting on the near west side of Indianapolis.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), officers were called to the 1400 block of North Tibbs Avenue just before 4 p.m. Sunday following reports of a person shot. When they arrived, they found Hudson suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital, where he remained for two days before tragically passing away.
Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and said Hudson had been talking to people inside an SUV when another vehicle approached. The driver allegedly fired at Hudson, striking him in the head before fleeing the scene.
Detectives continue to investigate the motive behind the shooting and are urging anyone with information to come forward. “We still have criminals out there committing violent acts,” said IMPD Officer Tommy Thompson, emphasizing the need for community cooperation to bring justice to victims.
Hudson’s death marks the 126th homicide in Indianapolis this year — a tragic reminder of the ongoing fight against gun violence in the city. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Jose Torres at (317) 327-3475 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-TIPS.
